NEXT CLASS Wednesday, September 2nd: Mail Art
In our last session of Community Wednesdays this summer, we will make art for the people we care about! Some artists think that art shouldn't be stuck in museums, where only some people get to decide if it's "good" or not and only some other people will get to see it. These artists have come up with lots of creative ways to share their work, from street art and graffiti to public sculptures and installations to -- the kind we'll be exploring today -- art that gets sent through the mail!
Postcard-sized pieces of cardstock, cardboard, or paper
Drawing and/or painting materials of your choice
Magazines, newspapers, and other assorted collage paper
Optional: stickers, glitter, colorful tape, and/or any other additional materials you'd like to use
